Yupp, I had a pretty good weekend! Kicked it off Friday night after work with dinner with friends at Fullhouse (been dying to try the place out coz I always found the place interesting looking (and thank God the food was good too!).

People who can't make up their mind on what to order hold hungry people back from getting their food :P |
|
I don't know whether it's coz it's really good or coz I was just freakin' hungry but I enjoyed my lamb chop |
|
This was yummy too...thank god I could still muster enough self restraint not to finish off my friend's plate as well |
|
Dessert...no matter how full I am, there will always be a special place in my tummy for you |
Immediately after dinner we went karaoke-ing at some small unassuming karaoke place nearby (hell, our room was so tiny that when we first entered it, Mujer’s reaction was, “Is this IT?!? It’s soooo small!” (it’s a good thing none of us are claustrophobic!). I’d like to think that despite the small room, limited song selection (one friend couldn’t find most of his fav Japanese songs), the reluctance of ‘someone’ (*cough*Mujer*cough*) to take the mic and sing, someone wailing her lungs out (despite saying that she would behave herself), a poor soul often coughing his way through songs and most of us not knowing how to sing half of the Malay songs a certain someone chose but refuses to sing (*cough*Mujer again*cough*), we had a pretty awesome session :D
In fact, this is the first time in my history of karaoke-ing (not that I karaoke often, mind you) that we actually managed to finish singing all the songs on our chosen song list! We had about half an hour left on our timer and another 3-4 pages of songs left to sing. I was afraid that we wouldn’t make it (or maybe I was on a natural high from all that singing) that I even suggested adding another hour to our session! (they didn’t go for it :P). Fine, we may have cheated a lil’ by speed singing (singing the first few minutes of each song before moving onto the next song ) but it was worth it just to be able to end the session with one of my fav karaoke song by Joan Jett, I Hate Myself for Loving You (miraculously this place had the song! Most of the bigger, nicer places I’ve been to don’t even have this song!). We were down to the last 2 minutes when we finally got to the last song on the list.

"When I grow up, I want to look like this!" (don't ask me why he chose to put his finger there) |

Me being all demure like before unleashing the beast within |
By the time I reached home it was about 1sh in the morning and since I couldn’t sleep (yeah, my natural high seem to last quite long...if only I could bottle it up and sell it) I decided to watched TV till I dozed off. Ironically American Idol was on...heh.
Woke up early the next day excited about my road trip to Melaka with The Kids (all in all there were about 9 of us). We left the house around 10am and the weather was excellent! (by Malaysian standards it means it wasn’t too sunny or hot but rather slightly windy with a faint hint of clouds. Though I love that kind of weather, I also knew what that meant, that it would definitely rain later in the day...and boy was I right!
We had to stop by Simpang Ampat first (at least I think that’s what the place is called) to pick up one of my cousin who is studying in Melaka before proceeding to Melaka City itself. Originally we had planned to have lunch in the city itself but unfortunately the traffic was bad and we were so hungry (it was almost 2 by then I think) that we just had to stop by some random place to eat. It started to rain by then and it was a good thing that after lunch, we didn’t sit around to wait for the rain to stop before making a move (as suggested by some) because if we had, we’d prolly still be sitting there right now! (seriously, what's up with the weather now days?)
Well, what can I say, it was a wet day in Melaka so we didn’t get to do much (yupp, there went our plans to go kite flying, sightseeing by foot, etc). We spent most of our time walking along only one street (and also the most famous one), i.e Jonker Walk with our umbrellas and ponchos. You’d think we’d be miserable, what with the weather spoiling our plans and all but hey, we still had fun! (LOADS of laughter=fun). It was funny watching a bunch of us noisily walking down the street in ponchos...at first we had trouble trying to figure out how to wear the freaking thing (it looked like a coloured garbage bag) but after awhile we got so use to wearing it that even when we went into shops or ate at cafes, most of us were too lazy to take off our poncho . For some strange reason I was craving durian that day so we walked around looking for durians.

All excited for the trip...you can't go on a road trip without your sunnies! |

See, even this lil' kid knows that! |

Looking happy in a poncho coz we thought we looked so cute |
|
Until we realize we don't, and we have to spend the whole day wearing it walking down the street :P |
|
Stopped by this quaint lil' place for a drink |
|
Post seafood dinner....sorry no pics of the food itself...we were too hungry to bother about taking pics. The moment they laid the food on the table we attacked it like a pack of wolves! |
|
Yes, it was a looooong, fun day |
|
The only souvenir I brought back from Melaka (totally worth it) |
Wish we had stayed there overnight though coz it was pretty late when we started heading back home. I was so worried about our designated driver and whether he would be able to stay awake throughout the trip back (coz I sure as hell couldn't) that I thought I'd try my best to talk to him to keep him alert (tho I was dying to fall asleep like the rest of em' in the car...boo for you guys :P). I started ok but after awhile I was slowly starting to slur my words and speaking incohherently (I could even feel my eyes rolling and slowly starting to close). I don't think he noticed tho (either I always speak like that or he wasn't paying attention to what I was saying in the first place!). We finally arrived home safely around 1.30am, tired but contented.
So yeah, thanks guys for a great weekend....we should do it again next time when Mi Amor's back. Or better still, get your asses up here to Vevey for a European road trip!
