Technically I've already left....I'm writing this post in the Business Class Lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport (the local time is around 1sumthing in the morning). I wanted to blog before leaving but packing was hectic, especially when I hafta do it myself (I had packed much earlier...in fact a few days in advance but I had to keep on repacking coz I was afraid of being overweight). I remember when Mi Amor left, MIL was the one busy packing his stuff for him, all he had to do was supervise and point out what he wanted to bring. Mine was a totally different case coz my mum was just watching me pack while lying on the bed (she even fell into a deep sleep at one point!). So yeah, you can see how pampered Mi Amor is compared to me (and this is the person I will have to take care of in Vevey...I have my work cut out for me :P)
So we had planned to leave home by 5.30 and no later than 6 since my flight's departure was at 8.20pm but for once, my mum who normally always stresses out when it comes to going to the airport was laid back this time and believe it or not, we left the house around 6.15!!! (I kept yelling "we hafta go!!" from downstairs and she claimed she didn't hear me and was suprised that I was ready by 5.30! In fact, I had to wait for her to get ready). After the mad rush to the airport, I made it to the check in counter by 7.20pm and the people there were already expecting me (they greeted me by name!). Apparently I was the last one in Business class to check in. Oh and get this, they brought the flight time forward to 8pm....like WTH?!?!? So after saying my goodbyes (nope, no tearful farewell, just hugs and kisses and some obligatory pics which took up most of the time since all the pics had to go through QC by Mi Madre), I made a mad dash to the departure gate and made it just in time! (I felt like I was on the Amazing Race).
So this is my 3rd time flying Business class (all on diff airlines) and I must say all 3 times I felt out of place. However one thing good about Etihad's Business class is that you're isolated in your lil' cubicle that no one can see you so you're free to do your own thing (like pick your nose or teeth or scratch your unmentionable body parts....all which i didn't do, of course :P). The food was good....though the menu says you can order anything you want anytime you want, I wonder if people really do that coz one course alone is enough to keep you full throughout the whole flight (which is about 6 + hours). I was excited when I saw they had grass fed beef tenderloin on the menu (coz the day before, we went to this place for dinner and I ordered some tenderloin steak and it was HORRIBLE (I'm not being difficult I swear, I have witnesses... it was hardly edible that I had to return it and ended up not eating anything. Not how I had imagined my last dinner in KL to be like ). Anyway, the beef tenderloin on the plane was cooked medium well, and absolutely DELICIOUS! As for the inflight entertainment....hmmmmm..so-so...no great movies so I mostly watched episodes of How I Met Your Mother (I wish I knew what show/movie this one passenger was watching coz he kept laughing out loud....at first I found it funny but unfortunately after a while it got irritating). I was antsy when we were about to touch down in Abu Dhabi...coz that just means I'm one step closer to my destination!
And now I hafta leave in about 10 minutes to board my next flight to Geneva (the gate is about 20 minutes walking distance from the Business Lounge). I can't say I've fully enjoyed the Business lounge facilities with the short amount of time I have (I mean, there's nothing much to do except use the computer and eat...though the buffet spread looks delicious, I'm just too freaking full that my stomach is beginning to hurt a little) but all that doesn't matter...I'm just excited and can't wait to arrive in Geneva to see Mi Amor!
Alrighty then will make a move to the gate now before they start calling me.....wish me a safe flight!
