Hair today, gone tomorrow

Pardon me while I rant. I cut my hair over the weekend. I could never stand long hair. I get bored with it. I’ve only kept mine long a few times (even then it was prolly coz I was thinking the longer I keep it, the more options the stylist has when he cuts it). I’m all for trying new styles (yes, almost every time I cut my hair, it’s a different style). So some work and some don’t (and some take a while to grow in before they start looking nice).  I just let the stylist do his/her thing and pray to God that it turns out fine. Unfortunately this time I didn’t keep my hair long enough (I haven’t cut my hair for almost 2 years but my hair grows REALLY SLOW) so the stylist was short (no pun intended) on ideas on the kind of haircut he could give me with my limited length of hair (not to mention amount).

Apparently he cut it short. How short? Well, let’s just say, while he was cutting my hair, 2-3 people in the saloon were watching/looking at me like it was a show (they were prolly thinking, “OMG, seriously?” “is she gonna cry?” “that’s a lot of hair!”). At one point I got so irritated with all the staring I felt like turning to them and say “take a picture why don’t you, it lasts longer” (yeah I know, cliché). Luckily I stopped myself in time when I realized that sudden turn = risking ear getting snipped off).

So I cut my hair, so what? So you don’t like it, then don’t say anything (I do not appreciate comments like “why did you cut your hair?” “tak sayang ke potong rambut?” “you look better with long hair”, etc. I mean what’s done is done. No point making me feel like shit/self conscious (though I think I’ve come a long way. When I was younger, I would cry and throw a tantrum every time I got a bad haircut. Now I’m just like, whatever, it’ll grow back...someday! :P  ). Props should be given to me for not wanting to curl up and dye (geddit? ha-ha)

 I’m trying to carry off the cut as best as I can (yes, without any styling products or blow drying). I mean to be fair, it looked nice at the salon coz they blow dried it and added products, and if I could copy the look, I’m sure people would think the style isn't that bad, but I just can’t. I know if you don’t say anything that means you don’t like it, fine. But you don’t have to give me that wide eyed look (yes, someone in the office did stare wide eyed at me and asked, “what happened?” (erm, I accidentally fell on a pair of scissors and cut my hair?) or worst still say “Mother’s like to cut their hair” (yes, I got this comment also, so I know you’re trying to say it looks like a mom hairstyle....thanks! :P ) followed by a “why so short?!?”  

I know I said I’m trying to be all ‘whatever’ about my haircut and whenever people make comments I try to brush it off by smiling or saying “I just felt like a change” but it does get irritating after a while people.

My verdict on the reaction I’ve received so far.....people hate it.

Well, at least Mi Amor isn’t here to make fun of me.

My new haircut prolly looks something like this if I blow dry it. Doesn't look too bad huh? but then again, I don't look like her :P
