I had been nagging Mi Amor weeks before he was set to leave for Vevey to start cleaning up his room and slowly putting aside the stuff/clothes that he would like to pack to Vevey so that it wouldn’t be a last minute stressful (not to him but to me) mad rush kinda thing but did he listen to me? NoOoOoOOO (and you would think after almost 12 years, the guy would have learnt by now that I am ALWAYS right when it comes to this kinda thing).
Originally Mi Amor was suppose to leave on Wednesday 27th Oct and by some miracle, someone cancelled their flight on the 28th so he managed to shift his flight to the 28th. Thank God for miracles like that because if he had to leave on Wednesday itself, he wouldn’t have been able to finish packing all his stuff (yes, the packing only started on Wed itself!). The packers were set to arrive in the afternoon to pack the clothes he wanted to bring.
Fun Fact # 1 Mi Amor has OCD (at least in my mind he does :P)
Early Wednesday morning (around 7am), Mi Amor, MIL, FIL and yours truly started cleaning out his old room. Mi Amor started pulling out EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF CLOTHING he owns and divided them into 3 piles, i.e. his beloved jersey collection, clothes that he still wears and clothes to give away.
Fun Fact # 2 Mi Amor has every season of Liverpool’s jersey starting from 1992 (both the home and away kit)
So we developed a system, FIL and yours truly folded the jerseys while Mi Amor did inventory. Btw, if you think we simply folded the jerseys and kept them away in the cupboard, you are mistaken. The process is much more complicated than that. First, the jerseys had to be arranged according to the year (from 1992 till 2010). Then they all were folded into the EXACT size (not so easy this one, left MIL to do the QC) before keeping them in the cupboard. Mi Amor does not only own Liverpool jerseys, he also has AC Milan (or was it Inter? Crap, I can never remember!), Barcelona, Ajax and England to name a few.
Fun fact #3 Mi Amor owns about 126 jerseys
Fun fact # 4 Mi Amor is a hoarder
Finally after carefully storing away his beloved jersey collection and putting aside the clothes that were to be given away, I thought we could move on to the mountain of clothes from the ‘clothes he still wears’ pile, and decide on which clothes he would ask the packers to pack but NoOoOoOoOoO, he started CLEANING his room!! As in going through the drawers, shelves, etc. to sort through the junk and other stuff accumulated over the years (e.g. cards, letters, receipts, clothes tags, plastic bags,etc.). All the while Mi Amor was cheerfully going, “This is tiring but I’m so glad I’m doing this, it feels so good to clean the room and get rid of stuff” and I one the other hand was thinking (MIL and FIL were there so I couldn’t say it out loud), “You’ve gotta be @$%@* kidding me!?! This is not the freaking time to do it!”
By the time we were done with the room, it was around 1.30pm (yes, 6 straight hours of helping him sort his stuff)
To be continued...... (coz I'm sure you're getting tired just reading this!)
