I want my TV !!!!

Hi…..My name is Azareena and I’m a TVholic. Currently I am suffering from TV Withdrawal Syndrome and it ain’t pretty. For those of you who think I’m being a drama queen, I’ll have you know that it is a REAL syndrome (well, I can’t seem to find it on Google but that doesn’t make it any less real right?)

You know how parents sing lullabies to their kids to make them fall asleep? Well, I like falling asleep in front of the TV because I find the sound coming from the TV soothing (it doesn’t matter what show is on…..maybe except for footie :P ). I once turned our family TV room into my bedroom and slept there for a whole year. I’m the girl who, before going away to travel (be it for work or pleasure), I make a note of all my fav shows that I will be missing and start planning on how I can catch the reruns. The moment I check into a hotel room, the first thing I do (after reserving the bed nearest to the TV) is to switch on the TV and check how many channels they have, go through the TV guide page by page and if possible, memorize the programme so that I won’t miss any interesting shows.

When Mi Amor was around, he used to spend the weekends playing golf with his buddies. Most people (well, mostly family members) wondered why I didn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that my husband was missing during the weekends (since that’s the time most couples normally use to spend ‘quality time’ together). Why do you think? That’s right.....coz that’s the time when I have the TV all to myself! (watching TV with Mi Amor is no fun coz he would be hogging the remote and watching sports channels...ughhhh). Sometimes I get so wrapped up that I don’t realize that Mi Amor has been gone for almost the whole day. The few times when he prolly does feel guilty about it, he’ll call home to talk to me, and our conversation would sound something like this:

Babe, I’m sorry I’m still with my friends. Will be back soon Ok? Then we do something together

Uh-huh

Watcha’ doing? Still watching TV?

Uh-huh

What show you watching now? Wait, have you even taken your bath yet?

Shhhhh....I can’t hear what they’re saying.

You haven’t! Gross! Go and bathe now

After this show

I’ll be back soon ok?

Take your time...Ok gotta go....wanna watch this...you’re disturbing me. Bye!

Once I even created one of those “How well do you know your friend” quiz on FB and one of the Q was “What is my biggest fear?” Believe it or not, some couldn’t decide between the answer ‘not being able to watch TV’ and ‘cockroaches’ (FYI, it’s the latter but the former is a close second!).

So imagine my distress when I have to live in a no TV environment. How did that happen? Well, I currently live with my in-laws (yes, even when Mi Amor’s not around...at his request) and there is only 1 working ASTRO card (there use to be 2, one for the common TV room and another in PIL’s bedroom). Now that the card in their room is no longer working, they have taken the card from the common TV room and used it for their TV.......leaving me to think of alternative ways to spend my nights (one of em’ is by blogging... :P)



WHAT?!? No TV? My life is over!



The good news is, I’m only there on weekdays and I go back home to my parent’s on weekends (and that’s when I camp out in the TV room and watch TV till I fall asleep…..sometimes up to 5am!). The bad news is, weekdays are when most of the good shows are on! (I try catching the reruns during the weekend, so now you know why I hardly leave the house.)

Anyway, I miss TV the most on Wednesday night. Why? Coz that’s when America’s Next Top Model is on, followed by Got to Dance UK and not to mention there’s Giuliana and Bill, Amazing Race, Miami Ink, 18 Kids and counting , etc.  (yes, it gets worse, not only am I a TV addict, I’m a reality show fan).  I used to text Mi Mujer  while watching TV just to give her running commentaries (and if she was watching the show, even better coz then we would have a whole freakin’ text conversation on the show!).

While I was moping around a few nights ago thinking of the many shows I was missing, a text came through on my phone (oh joy, a distraction!)

You watching ANTM? The girl has G cup boobs. Wasted! :P

NO! I don’t get TV remember? :P

Guliana actually ran 22km, first timer and you know how unfit she is!

With proper training you can do anything! Wanna try? ; ) heh

The only time she trained was when she was buying the shoes  :P. Bill didn’t think she’d be able to finish the run too. And nope, no intention of trying

I’m not buying that. No one runs 22km without prior training. They’d faint! I think she did train but they just didn’t show it on TV

That’s what I thought, but she was all enthusiastic, like “this is liberating, I can do anything” etc. etc.

Remember, don’t believe everything you see on TV (wasn’t it you who said that to me?). Oh but I know Mi Amor use to always tell me that reality shows ain’t always 100% real.

What? No! TV is God’s gift (well, after the internet). How can I not believe what I see!

I’m experiencing TV withdrawal syndrome so I see things clearly now. heh

That’s just jealousy talking....hahahaha

Guess that must have scared her coz she didn’t reply after that (or she prolly found another interesting show to watch…..dammit!). Well, will be going back home tonight and I betcha I won’t be getting enough sleep (yes, while other people are sleep deprived coz they’re out partying hard during the weekend, I’m sleep deprived coz I’m trying to watch as many mindless shows as I possibly can). TV HERE I COME !!!!

P.S……I can’t believe when we first got married I vetoed Mi Amor’s idea of putting a TV in the bedroom, just coz Oprah said it would kill the romance (damn you Oprah…now look what you’ve done!)

Seriously, hasn’t anyone told her that Karma’s a bitch? (just like some of those girls on ANTM).
